Our Garden

location

We are located in one of the remotest regions of Costa Rica. A region that is not traditionally known to produce coffee because geographically is so difficult to reach that just a few people have tried to grow coffee there. This region, however, has one of the best micro-climate, soils, and altitude to grow coffee in the world. The altitude range at our Coffea diversa garden is 1200-1350 meters above sea level.

Coffea diversa garden is located in the District of Biolley

Province of Puntarenas in the southernmost region of Costa Rica, right next to the border with Panama. Our garden is tucked in the outskirts of the La Amistad International Park, the largest forest reserve in Central America with about 500,000 hectares of protected primary tropical rainforests. It is denominated “International” because it extends into the neighbor country of Panama. This forest reserve guarantees a the purest environment there is to grow our coffee.

The Diverse Coffea Garden enjoys a very particular microclimate due to the fact that its location so close to the summit of the Cordillera de Talamanca in the La Amistad International Park, allows the influence of both climates to be present, both the Atlantic and the Pacific, This is a rare phenomenon that gives our coffees unique flavor profiles.

La Amistad International Park is considered one of the largest and most diverse tropical forests in the world that remains unchanged. In 1982 UNESCO declared it La Amistad Biosphere Reserve and in 1983 it was declared a World Heritage Site.
